Tracy Sala

Executive Director - Pope Memorial

Tracy Sala has dedicated over two decades to animal welfare. Her journey began as a volunteer at the Denver Dumb Friends League while she was practicing environmental law in Denver, CO. Driven by her passion for helping animals, she traded her briefcase for a leash, taking on roles as an Adoption Counselor and later as an Adoption Supervisor, where she worked to connect homeless animals with loving homes.

In 2005, Tracy and her husband, Peter, returned to her hometown in Maine to raise their two children, Sophie and Toby. As luck would have it, a position for Executive Director opened at the local shelter, allowing her to fully immerse herself in animal welfare. Today, she proudly serves as the E.D. at the Pope Memorial Humane Society in Thomaston, working to improve the lives of animals in her community. She shares her home with her husband Peter, their German Shepherd, Sadie, several beloved indoor cats, a barn cat named Barnaby, and a barn mouse named Teddy. Tracy has been a member of Maine Humane since 2007.
