Kathy Woodbrey

Executive Director - MSSPA

Kathy Woodbrey is the Executive Director of the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals (MSSPA), a role she assumed in 2022, marking a significant milestone in her commitment to advancing equine welfare. Since joining MSSPA in 2011, Kathy has been dedicated to the organization's mission of providing a safe haven for formerly abused and neglected horses, donkeys, and mules, working tirelessly to rehabilitate and rehome these animals. Her educational background in animal health and accounting has provided her with a unique skill set that she applies to MSSPA's operations, ensuring both the animals' well-being and the organization's financial sustainability.

In addition to her work with MSSPA, Kathy has been serving on the Maine Humane Board since 2021, where she collaborates on initiatives aimed at improving animal welfare across the state.

A lifelong animal advocate, Kathy lives in southern Maine with her husband Mitch, their dog Mae, and horses, Oakley and Duke.
